IQAC

UGC in the XI Plan made a policy decision that all higher educational institutes may establish Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to maintain the momentum of quality consequences. IQAC was conceived as a mechanism to build and ensure a quality culture at the institutional level. The IQAC is meant for planning, guiding and maintaining Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE) activities of the institution.

PDCH strives to provide quality education by providing best possible resources to the students. Apart from academics quality is also focussed in various aspects like research, administration, sports and cultural activities. There is a well-established system in our institution to maintain the quality culture. In order for preparation for NAAC, an Internal Quality Assurance cell (IQAC) was constituted in November 2021 for quality, sustenance, assurance and enhancement.

FUNCTIONS

  1. To develop a system for improving the academic and administrative functioning of the institution.
  2. To develop a quality culture within the institution.
  3. To organise workshops, seminars in the institution
  4. To document various programmes/activities
  5. To Collect and analyse feedback from all stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes

Institutional development is the best indicator for structural development and long term welfare creation for a nation. It is determined by the maintenance of high standard and quality. PDCH strives for high quality education by providing best possible resources to the students, faculty, and quality treatment for the patients who attend outpatient clinic and hospital. Other than regular teaching and learning, quality is focused on various aspects like research, administration, co-curricular and extracurricular activities by constituting various committees and students clubs. PDCH Quality Cell was formed in the year 2017 with the Dean as the Chairperson and all the heads of departments and an external expert as members. This cell meets at least once in six months to oversee improve the quality of the institution. It is meant for planning, guiding and maintaining Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE) activities of the institution. Subsequently Quality Cell of PDCH is converted into Internal Quality Assurance cell (IQAC) in November 2021. Dr. R. Ganesh, Professor and Head, Department of Public Health Dentistry, was appointed as the IQAC coordinator of PDCH. IQAC of PDCH became well established with Principal as Chairperson and the department heads as core members. IQAC meets periodically, if needed more often with 15 days of prior notice, having the agendas of the meeting mentioned in the circular. The decisions taken in the respected committees of the PDCH based on the feedback received from the stake holders and their subsequently approval by the governing council, the agendas for the meeting is prepared. Each agenda presented is discussed in detail with the aim of improving the quality. The required resources like manpower, budget aloocation and sanctioning, decisions are taken with a precise action plan with a time schedule. The minutes of the meeting is recorded and circulated within a week among the members to make the process transparent. Actions taken against the decisions taken in the previous meetings are made available to the members to seek suggestions for improvement.

PDCH-IQAC is involved in developing a system for improving the academic and administrative functioning of the institution; incorporates quality culture; plans and organizes conferences, workshops, seminars for faculty empowerment; documenting various programs/activities; orients faculty on different criterias and metrics of NAAC; prepares documentation for other accreditation authorities to improve the quality of the institution; monitors the effectiveness of teaching and learning methods through various methods including feedback from the stake holders and suggests on improving the quality of education; ensures the implementation of policies and their timely revisions; identifies opportunities of research collaborations within and outside the institute; ensures adequate infrastructure and resources, as well as providing suggestions to improve the quality further; patient care; identifies and promotes best practices for continuous improvement of the institution. IQAC of PDCH promotes overall quality culture, transparency, accountability and continuous progress of the institute.

ALUMNI EVENT

Dr. Rajkumar, Actor, director and Alumni of our college from the batch of “TROYZIANTZ” was the guest of honour for the inauguration of Priyadarshini Dental College theatre club. Joint Secretary of PDCAA Dr. G. Vijayalakshmi introduced the chief guest Dr. Rajkumar. Interns and Final year students from PDCH performed the Mime on Drug awareness. Dr. B. Sivapathasundharam, principal, PDCH presented momento to Dr. Rajkumar as a token of appreciation. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. N. Lingesh Kumar, Gen. Secretary of PDCAA
